City Partners with Cal State Northridge for “Life in the Sea”

With “Life in the Sea,” Malibu is expanding its environmental education outreach by partnering with the Tseng College at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) to offer this new summer course.

The six-week course will take place at Malibu City Hall (23825 Stuart Ranch Road) Tuesdays and Thursdays starting July 12 through August 21 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. In this entry level course, students will analyze the diversity of the life in the world’s oceans, from the shore to the depths, with emphasis on the Southern California biota. This class is open to anyone, including students not matriculated in any program at CSUN.

“Life in the Sea”also contains a laboratory (lab) portion, for which a schedule will soon be arranged by the university. The lab portion comprises the studies of the classification, anatomy, physiology, behavior and ecology of marine organisms through online and field exercises.

The deadline to register is Friday, July 20, and can be completed by visiting http://tsengcollege.csun.edu, or by calling Cal State Northridge at (818) 677-2504.
