CONSIDER THE WORLD WITH PIANIST KRISTIN CENTER, JULY 2

Pianist and environmentalist Kristin Center presents Consider the World, a concert and lecture, on Monday, July 2, at 7 p.m. in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.

Kristin aims to raise environmental, societal and economic awareness through her original art songs and a lecture about the planet’s future, including tips for how audience members can play an active role with her favorite environmental organization, the National Resources Defense Council. She will sell her CD, “Consider the World,” at the event’s conclusion.

Kristin is a Los Angeles-based concert pianist, contemporary art-song composer, and singer-songwriter whose unusual writing style combines Latin funk and impressionist classical styles with the lyrical message, “open your mind.” She has studied solo classical piano since age five, when she also began composing melodies with her mother at their upright piano, and gave her first public performance when she was six. While in her teens, she won the first of what would be several piano scholarships. For more information: kristincenter.com.
