Topanga Coalition for Emergency Preparedness (T-CEP) is a nonprofit, volunteer organization whose purpose is to help the Topanga community prepare for and cope with disasters such as wildfires, floods, and earthquakes.
Topanga Animal Rescue is dedicated to helping animals. We provide local fostering and placement services for lost or abandoned domestic animals, as well as immediate medical field triage and treatment for domestic and wild animals in Topanga Canyon. Other important services include community education programs and training for professionals and volunteers. We are a non-profit.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
The Community ARSON WATCH is a group of volunteers of all ages and background who patrol the Santa Monica Mountains during periods of extreme fire weather conditions. They cover an area over 185 square miles, logging somewhere between 2,500 and 4,000 total volunteer hours. These ARSON WATCH Volunteers use their own vehicles (identified by magnetic ARSON WATCH signs) and two-way radios (donated by FAWDS, Inc.).
